We are a Canadian couple from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, who have proudly called Uganda home since 2002. Long before we moved to Uganda, we were avid campers, always ready to toss our tent and a couple of fishing rods in the truck and head into the wilderness, even if it meant crossing paths with the occasional bear! When we arrived in Uganda, our love of the outdoors only grew stronger. Every chance we got, we set out to explore this incredible country and were constantly amazed by its beauty and diversity.

Our first trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park in 2003 was life changing. The towering Rwenzori Mountains reminded us of the mountains of home, while the sweeping savannahs and rich wildlife opened a whole new world of adventure. With every visit, our connection to the park deepened and we knew we wanted others to have the traditional safari experience of sleeping under canvas in a tent and enjoy a genuine wilderness adventure without sparing any creature comforts or luxury.

In 2015, we packed up our life in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda along with our five dogs and moved to Kasese to start a new chapter. That’s when we found the property where Little Elephant Camp now stands. Piece by piece, we built our little slice of paradise, guided by a simple passion, to create an unforgettable safari experience for our guests.

However, Little Elephant Camp has always been about more than just a place to stay. We are proud to be a social enterprise, dedicated to supporting our neighbors in the nearby community of Muhokya. All our employees come from this community, and many of them are young people who are gaining their very first work experience here. Through jobs and hands on training, we’re helping them build skills, grow in confidence, and create brighter futures, for themselves, their families, and for the community.
